6 Full-time 1 day ago Full Job Description Description JOB SUMMARY Oncology Tech serves as initial point of patient contact, and manages patient flow within assigned areas.
Preforms medical office functions to include appointment scheduling, creating new patient accounts, managing referrals, obtaining insurance/demographics information, schedules all diagnostic studies, coordinates peer to peer reviews, and maintains patient data upon request.
Oncology Tech will perform the following clinical duties:
obtaining patient vitals, complete scope appropriate assessments, medication refills, and assisting with quality checklist.
The Phoebe Oncology Center is a high-performance, fast pace environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize.
Organizational skills, flexibility, excellent communication, and the ability to meet customer service expectations are required.
All activities will be performed in support of the mission, vision, and value of Phoebe Putney Health System.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.

, self education, attends ongoing educational programs) Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Must have the ability to hear, interpret and respond to verbal and written requests for service.
Must contribute to building a team spirit of assistance and support to co-workers, clinical staff and other departments within the hospital.
WORKING CONDITIONS General environment:
Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED (Required) Vocational / Technical Degree (Preferred) Non Degree Program in Some college or continuing education in related field (Preferred) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS At least two years of Experience in a comparable position / duties in a healthcare environment.
(Preferred) At least two years' Experience in Medical terminology; coding; knowledge of 3rd party payer requirements/referral process; organizing/directing; direct patient interaction.
(Preferred) CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES No Certifications are Required or Preferred GENERAL SKILLS Organizational Skills, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Customer Relations, Mathematical, Grammar / Spelling, Read / Comprehend Written Instructions, Follow Verbal Instructions, Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office Suite, General Clerical Skills, Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and plan accordingly ,Attention to details.
