2 Albany, GA Albany, GA Full-time Full-time $40,188 a year $40,188 a year 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago The Position The purpose of this classification is to perform supervisory level work in organizing, planning, scheduling, promoting, directing, and evaluating social, creative, athletic, and/or educational activities for youth adults, senior citizens, and citizens with special needs.
Duties Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing/assigning work, counseling, recommending discipline, and completing employee performance appraisals; hires or assists in hiring part-time and seasonal help; conducts training clinics; recruits and orients employees and volunteers.
Plans, organizes, schedules, and implements recreational programs, events, classes, and activities for the community; plans and coordinates classes, clinics, games, field trips, children's games, parties, senior events, summer lunch program, special holiday events, and other events/activities; schedules activities at recreational center, parks, and other sites.
Evaluates current programs and recommends changes as appropriate; assesses the need for new programs; recommends and implements new programs; visits various activity sites to monitor or supervise activities.
Assists with establishment and implementation of policies; assists in maintaining safe and functional operating environment; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; utilizes precautionary safety equipment and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; administers first aid/CPR in the event of injury; secures medical or law enforcement personnel as needed.
Maintains equipment and supply inventory; initiates orders for new or replacement materials; receives/stocks supplies; distributes and collects supplies and equipment.
Maintains and cleans grounds and/or facilities; inspects equipment and facilities; assists with minor repairs or reports repair and maintenance needs to appropriate personnel; inspects and approves repairs; secures facilities and equipment; secures unsafe areas until repaired; assists with facility/equipment set-up for activities and special events; coordinates park maintenance/repair work and preparation of ball fields.
Builds relationships with participants; meets and greets visitors; assists in answering telephones and responding to questions or complaints from participants, recreation officials, department personnel, and the general public; provides information; resolves problems.
Receives and/or processes program/activity registrations; receives moneys in payment of program/activity fees, facility rental fees, instructor fees, insurance payments, or other service fees; issues receipts; processes refunds; prepares/maintains class rosters reflecting enrollment/payment data; provides information to instructors; submits fees and accompanying paperwork to appropriate personnel.
Performs marketing functions; develops, designs, and distributes advertising materials, press releases, mailings, posters, flyers, and other promotional materials; creates brochures reflecting activities, locations, dates, and times; distributes information to public; interacts with various media to coordinate news releases, interviews, photo shoots, and related promotional activities.
Partners with outside agencies in implementing programs; partners with Dougherty County Schools, Golden Retreat, Dougherty County Health Department, the Parole Board, and others; may solicit sponsors.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, brochures, newsletters, flyers, scripts, check requests, refund requests, billing statements, rosters, schedules, bid documents, purchase orders, rental permits, press releases, public service announcements, contracts, agreements, evaluations, proposals, presentations, incident reports, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, time sheets, registration forms, schedules, accident reports, rental agreements, contracts, invoices, photographs, policies, manuals, reference materials, educational materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares departmental files; maintains file system of departmental records.
Communicates with supervisor, employees, volunteers, other departments, instructors, volunteers, sports officials, students, the public, officials, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems; responds to complaints and questions related to department operations; provides information, researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
Attends and/or conducts various meetings and/or training workshops as required.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS May pick up, distribute, and/or deliver supplies, bulk mail, flyers, and related materials.
May assist with holiday or special event decorating.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in Physical Education, Fine Arts, Education, or related field preferred; additionally, two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes physical education, fine arts, and/or education preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must be certified in first aid/CPR or obtain certification within six months of hire date.

ADA COMPLIANCE Physical Ability:

Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
Some tasks require oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors:
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, extreme heat/cold, or toxic agents.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
