Description
JOB SUMMARY

  • The sepsis coordinator is a health care professional who works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to the septic patient. The Coordinator provides clinical, professional expertise for patients, families and staff members.The Sepsis Coordinator facilitates the bedside clinical care of sepsis to assure that all patients receive comprehensive and timely treatment interventions that are consistent with best practice recommendations. This position collaborates with all members of the healthcare team. The sepsis coordinator participates in program development as itrelates to the sepsis care. This includes, but is not limited to staff education, community education, and marketing. Responsible, in coordination with the Director, for planning, developing and implementing sepsis initiatives. Will maintain quality standards for responsive service including data management of key quality indicators. He/she will take a leadership role in development and implementation of outcomes evaluation as guided by regulatory and accreditation standards. All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner with respect and dignity.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
  • Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization
  • Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
  • Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
  • Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinicalareas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
  • Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • General environment:
    Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
  • May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel.
  • May be scheduled as needed including overtime

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 - 6 Years Experience in acute hospital setting (Required)
  • Experience in the application of Performance Improvement methods, including Lean, PDSA, data collection and analysis, and report writing (Required)
  • Experience in providing training education, team facilitation and coaching (Required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and presentation skills, can develop presentations using data and results to group with varied needs (Required)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
  • Required Certifications/Licensures:
    Registered Nurse (RN) with current Georgia license
