Advanced Medical Support Assistant

The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position in the Community Based Outpatient Clinic at the Albany VA Medical Center in Albany GA.
The incumbent performs duties related to the receipt, intake and indexing of health and administrative information.
He/she will interface with personal computer (PC), automatic call distribution (ACD) telephone system as well as a significant number of VISTA applications.
This is a highly specialized position, which requires an unusually broad base of knowledge/experience with the following duties:
Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.
e.
PACT) Performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointments schedules for one or more outpatient clinics Outpatient Processing Eligibility VISTA applications for administrative, clinical and ancillary services Able to interpret and communicate requirements of VHA Scheduling Directives and complete accurate scheduling responsibilities Schedules appointments and utilizes the Electronic Waiting List (EWL) accurately in a timely manner Responsible for completion of personnel reports, rosters, and maintenance of supplies and forms Reviews daily active/pending consults, (EWL), Recall List and Audiocare communications for accuracy and disposition Coordinates administrative services for Veterans, family members, caregivers, and general public, administrative and clinical staff to insure continuity of inpatient and outpatient care Assists in processing Veterans travel payment vouchers for the Beneficiary Travel Program and Health Benefits Unit Documents imaging and retrieving health information in a paperless environment Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act Independently manages position responsibilities with little supervision, sets priorities and deadlines adjusting the flow and sequence of the work to meet team and patient needs in a busy environment Additional duties or tasks may be assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient daily operations Relocation expenses and/or incentives have not been authorized.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
